which needs allot of maintenance and frequent updating of its software, lots

databases etc... so this would be another aspect your not in control off when
you go with a free linux web hosting plan. And in the case that your web site
was developed using asp, you will have a hard time to find a web host which
support windows web hosting plans.
The 4th disadvantage would be the domain
support, lots of free web hosts don't let you use your own domain, force for a
specific type, or force you to use a sub domain or a folder under one of their
domains, for example a sub domain would be something like
www.subdomain.freehostsdomain.com that's even a good scenario, other might
give a folder which would be something like
www.freehostsdomain.com/freeaccounts/yourname.com
The 5th disadvantage would be the limitations on files that you can upload to
your site, such as video or MP3's as well as scripts that would usually cost
them allot of traffic or resources such as online chatting scripts or bulletin
boards.
The 6th disadvantage is
reliability and support, granted some free web hosts who are well established
are reliable in terms of uptime, but what about technical support? will you be
able to have the support you need?
As you can see, free web hosting might not be the best idea, especially if
you have an important website, if you care about your business and your online
presence, its always better to take the utmost care when choosing your web host.
